Herefordshire Beekeeping Association (HBKA) values the contribution that beekeepers make to the community and their relationship with the public is of vital importance.

The British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) encourage beekeepers to constructively advance their beekeeping skills and keep aware of developments in the beekeeping community.

Since many beekeepers in our beautiful county of Herefordshire are dispersed and isolated into rural areas, access for our beekeeping community can be a challenged. Advances, in technology mean that rural beekeepers (Wi-Fi connection required) can enrol in selected British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) courses. They can access specific beekeeping module subjects and sit written exams, all online.

The BBKA Written module exams cover all aspects of apiculture, there are 7 modules in total. Exams are held in March and November.

Module 1 – Honey Bee Management

Module 2 – Honey Bee Products and Forage

Module 3 – Honey Bee Pests, Diseases and Poisoning

Module 5 – Honey Bee Biology

Module 6 – Honey Bee Behaviour

Module 7 – Selection & Breeding of Honeybees

Module 8 – Beekeeping and Honeybee Management

Module 8 must be the last module to be taken, otherwise they can be tackled in any order.
