Herefordshire Beekeeping Association (HBKA) takes pride in its annual beginner’s beekeeping course and in the graduates who continue to successfully keep bees. However, since many of our beekeepers are dispersed and isolated in rural areas in our beautiful county of Herefordshire, mentoring for beginner beekeepers is not available via HBKA. Therefore, HBKA encourages individual beekeeper development via regular spring and summer apiary meetings, which also include regular presentations. We also have a well-equipped apiary library, and an active chat group and hold online conferencing service presentations and meetings for those who are unable to attend face-to-face meetings.

The British Beekeeping Association (BBKA) work to raise the standards of beekeeping through a series of courses and exams. Their exams start with the Basic Assessment, covering basic skills and knowledge.
