Come and Join a Bee Safari – and it will be just as exciting as it sounds!
We will meet at Ballingham Old School Hall (BOSH) at 1pm where we will leave most of the cars and I will hand out a sheet of directions to the different apiaries and give instructions for the afternoon. At 1.30pm we will car-share and go to the first apiary where Colin will give a demonstration of how he carries out a Foul Brood inspection. He will also cover Exotic Pest inspections. At the second apiary Colin will show how to do a Shook Swarm manipulation. What we do at the third apiary will depend on what we find earlier in the afternoon and any questions which arise.
After that, we will go back to the hall for refreshments and a chat. Please bring a small contribution, sweet or savoury, for the tea. We can leave any of these at the Hall at the start of the afternoon so that they don’t spoil sitting in our cars in the heat of the beautiful summer’s day, which I’m sure it will be.
1pm sounds like an early start but there is a lot to get through in the afternoon and we don’t want to be too late having our tea, which I’ve timed for 4.30pm.
Please let me know if you are intending to come, for organization purposes, on 01989 770075 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
DIRECTIONS to BOSH: From Holme Lacy take the road signposted Ballingham and Cottage of Content. At the top of the hill, in the centre of Ballingham village where there is a village green and pond, take the left turn signposted Village Hall. The hall is on the left. From Hoarwithy take the road along the Wye, signposted Cottage of Content. In the centre of Ballingham where there is a village green and pond, turn right and you will see the village hall on the left.
The hall doesn’t have a name sign up but it looks like an old school (which it is) and the car park is behind it.
